BANA has sent up a group list serve as a means for residents of Berkeley to exchange neighborhood issues. If you'd like to sign-up to be on this group list serve please send an email with your name and email address to mariebowman@pacbell.net asking to be removed. We hope you'll find this a timely and effective way to share what's happening in your neighborhood with residents across the city.

I hope this will provide a way for individuals to describe their experiences in accessing city services, and the quality of service received. By publishing these comments from real people (names attatched for validity), we should be able to apply pressure to the city to improve the quality of service and hold deptartment heads responsible. Many individuals are disgruntled. They realize that writing a letter as a single individual to the city will either result in no response, or a lame excuse. When a significant number of people realize that others are having similiar problems, my hope is that they will be encouraged to speak up, and "take heart" that they are entitled to good service and view other residents in Berkeley as sharing the same goals for improving city services.  Schmalty isn't it!

I plan to organize the complaints and suggestions by dept. I plan to publish these tabulations monthly (at least in the beginning, and later hopefully more frequently). I plan to maintain hard copy of every responding individual.
