Join Berkeley Neighborhood in Training for DisastersClasses for Berkeley Residents to make Berkeley Safer and More Secure.Click here for "Bugle", a newsletter from the Desk of Fire Chief Reg Garcia containing information about the classes. Click on this link for a printable registration form. Please contact Dory Ehrlich at the City for additional information: 981-5506 The first two neighborhood trainings (held on July 26 and August 8) were very successful. Bill Greulich, Emergency Services Manager, reviewed the incident management system used by federal, state, city and local responders, and examined how it can be applied to neighborhood organizations. Participants practiced using this system through role-playing. One participant commented on how eye-opening it was to be juggling equipment needs, team member assignments, and safety issues all at once. Participants worked with police and firefighters to learn effective use of radios. Sills practiced included protocols, how to identify yourself, and how to confirm that messages have been accurately sent and received. Only two trainings remain:Please call me (Dory Ehrlich, CERT Coordinator, at 981-5506) to register yourself or your neighborhood. Please share this information and encourage your friends and neighbors to sign up! Five classes entitles you a free CERT sweatshirt! | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
